The vision 21 conference room
Vision 21 Conference Room

Perched on the seventh floor of Beering Hall, the 12-seat Vision 21 Conference Room commands one of the best views of campus. Jokingly referred to as the Jedi High Council Chamber among students because its circular design and band of windows evoke the Star Wars setting, the space was lauded as “a distinctive room for special meetings” in promotional materials distributed when the Liberal Arts and Education Building was completed in May 1993.

When first opened, Vision 21 was regarded as an elite conference room that was frequently booked. However, staff in the Space Management Department who schedule the room have seen a decline in its popularity over the years, largely due to its limited occupancy and lack of audio/video equipment needed for presentations. It’s primarily utilized for departmental meetings and staff training, although it’s not uncommon to find a few students quietly studying when the room is not reserved.

It’s fitting that this masterful space tops the building that houses the administrative offices of the College of Liberal Arts, which seeks to educate students who will be a force for good in the world.
